Bed bugs are insects that have flat, oval-shaped bodies about 1/4 inch long. They are often dark red with whitish eggs the size of a pinhead. Bed bugs often lay eggs in clusters of 10-50 eggs which are normally hidden in cracks and crevices and hatch within 10 days. They have a one-year life span during which a female can lay 200-400 eggs. Bed bugs feed on human blood, mammals and birds. Bed bugs often bite at night anywhere on the human body, but most commonly around the face, neck, torso, and arms. How do I treat bed bug bites?
Most bed bug bites go away by themselves and don’t need treatment. If the bites are very irritating, you may want to contact your doctor to prescribe cream or antihistamines to relieve the itchiness.
